#2019rewind: Part 6

6. Impromptu Banyuwangi trip // 6 - 8 October

I forget when the idea came up but i felt just like oh i need to go for a sudden trip. My last trip was with Sekar & Husna strolling around East Java. I think i miss the vibes of travelling (when actually 2019 was full of trips) (but also had been bored with the lab-lyfe) then i remember my promise to mba Ike to go back at Rogojampi someday. Well, the experience of 14hours straight in an economic train wasn't a good one tho, but i left there, my heart in Banyuwangi. Sri Tanjung is the only cheapest and safest choices to go Bwi, so yeah, i took that trip again.

I went there only with Sekar when she's 2weeks away from her 1-credits seminar so we called this "Seminar Getaway" wkwk. We bought the tickets a month before the trip, then we're realized we're having one of our mid-term test at 9 Oct. But yeah we didn't care but later we brought our notes along in the train pftt. Actually the real trip was only at 7 Oct because in 6 & 8 Oct we're on the train. I know you might think how much waste it was but we're just like "just do it" and later felt that our ass was broken because 14x2hours sat on the train.

Rogojampi Station, where the story begin

Sri Tanjung is always leaving at 7am from Lempuyangan Station then ending the trip at Banyuwangi Baru Station. We stopped at Rogojampi Station, 2 stations before end, and found out mba Ike and mas Henda was here to picked us up how lovely. We're staying at their kost, well it was a pennywise trip tho haha and they offered us first to stay there. They have moved to another kost so it wasn't in "Rumah Kos yang Asri" anymore. Mba Ike had already prepared a dinner for us, it was Octopus in sweet&sour sauce, nuggets and scallops from ICS products, tahu petis, and all-hail tahu walik! So deliciousss thank you mba Ike! We went to sleep back then because tomorrow we need to wake up earlier for the secret trip arranged by mba Ike & the gang.

Well i thought we would just go only 5 of us (me, Sekar, mba Ike, mas Hend, mas Doy (their high-sch friend, a rest sailor, mas Hendra's bed-mate)). Later there's mba Ria and mas Inul joined us, yay! We're riding motorcycle, i was with mba Ike. Our 1st stop was at Jagir Waterfall. It was on the hill in Kampung Anyar village. We needed to go downstairs to reach the waterfall. It wasn't that big with not so heavy flow. Kids were safe to play there. I thought it was the only waterfall here but then mba Ike brought us for a walk near the river.

ok Sir you had photoboombing my pict😒

girls squadd👭

We walked for about 20 minutes in that rocky-humid soil path, later i was so amazed because of the scenery. Around us was a rock cliffs and the sun was covered by green leaves. The only straight light was right to the waterfall, you can image the landscape. It was so quiet, just the water burbling sound. The waterfall was larger than the one we saw  before. Sure it's rocky around so Sekar and i of course got slipped on our way touching the water pft (big ass problems 101). Only a few people there so we made the TikTok hits that time "Entah Apa yang Merasukimu) shamelessly. Satisfied enough yet hungry, we went back walking upstairs. Next, we had bakso Malang as our lunch then we're continuing our ride.

our way to get the waterfall

We went to the Boom Beach. First we're just sitting next to the beach, watching the Bali island in front of us, and the blue sea n sky. How relaxing. The sun was still quite bright and a bit hot but didn't care huh. Of course we're taking those picts and didn't forget again the TikTok thing. Later as the sun went down, we walked to the Boom Marine Park. Well it's still under construction but there's already a bridge with those sparkling lights from the colorful lamps. Not really bad if you want to take a pict but there's just a lot of people around you pft.

Bali in front of eyes!!

another photoboombin

photoboombed again by those a$$ pft😑

Our last destination was in the Alun-Alun Blambangan. It's just typical city park, an usual Alun-Alun you may found in the heart of Regency. But the difference here, you found like a stage with some stone carving representing the glory of Blambangan kingdom in the past. We're just sit and talk, we're mostly listening  to mas Doy's story when he's joined the Chinese-squid hunter ship sailing around the world. Quite interesting, such a tough experience of mas Doy, such a flip-side of his smile. The glasses were later empty then we're back to the kost because tomorrow in the morning we had to be back in station. Well, Sekar and i bought some fried pentol first in Rogojampi night street food because it's a legend, oh yea also thai tea wkwk.

Sekar in front of the statue

Actually our 2nd purpose to go there, 1st was to meet mba Ike & mas Hend, was to buy the all-hail tahu walik mas Shofi we usually eat as a breakfast back in Kerja Lapangan time. But usually the tahu is being fried at 7 am and we're already inside the train huh. So yeah, basically if you want to take travel, a long travel like this especially in Banyuwangi, you should take 4days trip for a minimum because you're going to spend 2 days on the train and it's not really good for your back wqwq. We're arrived safely in Lempuyangan Station. We're home and yea tomorrow we had an exam ahahaha.

Sekar and her 14hours boyfriend😝

Thanks a lot mba Ike, mba Ria, mas Hend, mas Doy, and mas Inul for accompanying Sekar and I hang around Banyuwangi. Till we meet again on my turn to bring you around Yogyakarta!

tons of love for mba Ike💕💋

#2019rewind: Part 5

5. Keairan with freshman-year #anotherlaboratoryteachingassistant // 31 August - 16 November

So this thing happened because the Fishery Dept was changing the curriculum start from the new students in academic year 2019/2020. There's new a laboratory course called "Keairan", a 2 credits-course combining 4 laboratory course like Microbiology, Aquatic Ecology, Limnology, and Oceanography. It was forced us, the Safety & Quality of Fisheries Product Laboratory & Aquatic Ecology Laboratory old assistant members to bunch up because there's no more time to do kind of open recruitment. It was a quite hard discuss in linking one to another materials. But well, finally we made it with Mega from Aq lab as our head of assistant. Our principle in charge was Pak Prima and Pak Riza.

Keairan Ranger: Xabiru ft Xakuning

The story started when we're running our 1st meet with our student, the 2019 freshman batch, for some assistance session of the laboratory course that would be last for that semester. Because the lack of capacity and also time, each lab ran the course as what it's being scheduled in a day. The course took 3 days in a week, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Of course i was in SQ lab handling the isolation and identification of bacteria subject.

after assistance session

It was in the beginning of 7th semester and i only took 3 class courses and 6 credits-courses of final research. I hadn't starting my research because my proposal seminar schedule was in the early December. I also postponed my 1-credits seminar so actually i have much spare time in that semester. Later because i took a part in this new lab-course, my life was just like what it used to be in the last semester, precisely the same thing.

us: faking smiles

us: mumet ndhas e

weekend prep

ibu ratu brought her boyfie

But thereafter, i realized a thing. Most of my friends felt that their college-lyfe was too much in spare times or gabut in another word when they used to be that quite busy in 6th semester also the KKN lyfe. I grasped that my work was keeping my mind busy yet mumet ndhas e. Another assistants and students around me everyday kept my soul fulfilled  and sane back from KKN. Thank you, squad!

1st time SQ lab went to the sea, thank Aq lab!

Met the freshman-year actually such an excitement. They're only a kid that had just graduated from high school then facing such a hardship because these lab-course normally being taken by 2nd semester student. Look at their act like a nincompoop sometimes was a true merriment ahaha. Most of them was in young-wild-and-free kind of soul and always nice to talk to! They also still didn't know much about college-lyfe thingy so it's ok to talk some craps with them. Their business for sure  was only class lecture, lab-course, lab-report, and sometimes organization thingy made me realized again and again how old i am and how long i've been in this Dept.

the Muhammad's: fav kids

Pak Prima is the 1st PIC who came to the lab final exam session in the early morning

Ahh, also because of this lab-course too i got to know Pak Prima better mwahaha. Well he's mid 30s young lecturer who's just comeback from his doctoral in Japan on March. I used to be like a fan of him of course because of his competence and imagining a new wave in teaching method in my study program but well i'm no longer taking class but i met him there! But later, we turned out like a kind of friend with the rest of the assistant and also another story on my research lyfe with a bit of his nuisance huh gonna tell you on the next part!!

#2019rewind: Part 4

4. KKN a.k.a 3-credits Community Services // 28 June - 18 August

I have posted this KKN thing too but here i'm gonna tell you more about people i've met.

My team actually was founded in a full-team on late February, but i've joined this team on the 1st batch recruitment back in November 2018 when we're only 18 members. We attended those night meetings every Friday night took a place in faculty to faculty but mostly in Selasar Barat Fisipol! Mostly i've known those people before we're here. Well that was because Palapa 2017 (such an answered prayer ahaha). So actually it wasn't that hard for me to fit in this team.

Our friday night meeting routine, it was on Fapet's (not in a full-team tho)
Le agro squad did some trials at mas Farras's home
that Makrab thing but yet still couldn't in a fullteam

But later on, i realized that not every people there was a significant for me. I think 50days will make us united as a forever family back from KKN, but i think i failed to make it. I was wondering about such a perfect team but later i know that don't hope too much. Maybe also i didn't meet every person's personalities. I really thank to those new sisters and brothers, thank you for every loving soul that has come to my life through this KKN. I owe my life to you and forgetting the rest of my upsets.

In those 50days away from home in Riau Archipelago, actually i've been stopping into so many places, but here i will only share some mostly in Benan & Pulau Bukit.

Benan:
Actually i had such a bad moment on my 2-weeks here but later i found out that what doesn't kill you just make you stronger is true. So i was being stalked when i was taking a bath (when it's actually a closed bathroom), i was very mad and i ran away to Makcik Sikin, the Ibu RT 1's home. I cried in her home's backyard which is actually there's no backyard except the blue ocean, yep i cried in the West China sea. Later, news spread like a flash (well you live in a small island tho). I had some deal with Nenek's family (my host fam) and i felt like ok lets just forget it (when actually i had trauma). Because of that news, mostly makcik-makcik in RT 1 & 2 knew me, or at least familiar with my name haha. I took that as a power that i'm stronger than that jerk. I couldn't walk without saying any "hi" to them, i love you all mak-mak!

Makcik Sikin's backyard

Makcik Sikin and Kak Niar was preparing bean soup for Ipit (makcik Sikin's daughter) birthday

Cranky Nayra

I met so many kind people besides Makcik RT 1. In front of our dorm there live Makcik Kas, that 52-years old woman, a mother to 4 kids, was there like an angel. She own a canteen and i was always there for breakfast and dinner. She lent me her home (also the household ofc) to carry out my work program. Sometime if i had my free time, i got there just for a sit and a tea with her until almost midnight (usually with bern and halim). Still in RT 1, i met kak Niar with his young-wild-free soul also her cute lil daughter Nayra. I remember in the last week i helped her making her cake's decoration order ahaha. The other side there's Makcik Erda who lives beside us, she silently called and gave us her delicious rendang ayam on Raya. In the more east, there's Makcik Ibay and the gang, they always enliven my programs, thank you mak! In RT 2 there's Makcik Juw or usually i called her Makcik Doraemon because there's Doraemon painted on her house ahaha. She was always nice to talk while sitting on her small stall. The other one, Makcik Ani & Pakcik Sabran's family who lives near the school. I was often taking a bath in their house ahaha they had a lot of water and 24h electricity tho. I also met bang Jep & kak Jannah's lil family, the happy soul, love you my two ucuuu! This couple was so helpful to us since the day 1, our trip to Daik-Dabo, until the last day we're here.

Makcik Kas & Suami when Raya

Usual dinner routine at Makcik Kas's

Makcik Erda's cook is the wrapped ketupat and red chicken rendang huhu so gewd

In RT 3 there are Makcik Hayati's family and Long Boai's family. Their home is next to each other. Makcik Hayati sell some drinks and my favorite was that cendol with palm sugar, a cure for those hot days. Long Boai & Long Limah, with their 5-S kids, Soni Sonia Sona Sophi Sumi, was always make my day like bothering Sona when he's taking the water or Sumi with her aggressive behavior. Long Limah once said she was very upset that she didn't host the girls but the boys because Nenek picked the girls first wkwkwk. In RT 4 i also knew nice makcik called Makcik Siti, the one who saved me from neck sprain on my 4days here. Later, so many friends got another sprain problems so i had to accompany them to go Makcik Siti's.

Long Limah - me - Long Boai
Bukit:
My 1st time impression when i touched down in Bukit on my 1st week of KKN: wow, this is such a small island with small communities too! Like when you run a bit you will ended up in the beach. I was attending on a local's wedding when finally because of bang Jep's idea i got to give my beauty yet creepy voice there. Well, i sang Javanese song wkwk. On another week, I got a chance to live here for 2 days because of Bern, mas Farras, and Adi's program (such a call-a-friend thing). Usually we stayed in Pakcik Johan & Makcik Ayus's home. The respond or the way they look at us was pretty much different than my 1st visit there wkwk. Oh well i didn't even take a bath there because the water is way much difficult than Benan. Locals also usually take a bath in public well in the middle of jungle, together, thats why i decided better postponed my bath. I was very happy that those makcik-makcik were enjoying our programs (and also the preparation drama ahaha).

Makcik-Makcik in Bukit

Washing the dishes on public well with le agro squad

Well, i've been to Nopong also Daik too! Gonna tell you in another post! So again i'm gonna say thanks a lot to le team. The yummy yet also crummy moments, lets just keep it as one of the part in developing ourselves!

"because KKN is only to be remembered, not being retried"

#2019rewind: Part 3

3. Fish Microbiology ft Food Analysis: 2-courses laboratory teaching assistant at one time // Feb 2019 - May 2019

Micro 2019 Ranger
ASTI 2019 Ranger
As i ever posted, i said that this 6th semester's lyfe was hard, one of them was me handling these laboratory courses. I'm a part of Quality & Safety of Fisheries Product Laboratory since 2018 as Microbiology laboratory teaching assistant and the pledge is forever until you graduate or uhm not, until you want to stop. The next year i joined as the part of Fish Processing Technology Laboratory as Food Analysis laboratory teaching assistant for that year only. I understood the risks, but i kept taking it for sure ahaha. Because of those things, i could get 3 free access in 3 labs, the other was in Nutrition & Food of Fish Laboratory.

Weekend lab preparation

Dealing with antibiotics these past 2 years

Colonie's characteristics behind me
Dinner with nasi padang 24/7

I met those kind-helpful laboratory manager like pak Hernowo, pak Budi, and mas Kirun. I  got closer too with the instructor in charge of each courses, mam Indun was Microbiology's IC and also my thesis advisor and mam Sita was Food Analysis's IC and my internship advisor as well. I also got to know better of my 2017 & 2018 junior because well, i met them as my student almost every week for the rest of semester.

An obligatory selfie before Food Analysis duty

were escaping from Nutri lab ahaha

Colorful ash from fish bone powder

Another obligatory selfie in the last session

Question numb 3 was: who's gonna be the next assistant?
This one belongs to Giffarri, the drawing tho

In a week, Microbiology takes 4 days they are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday meanwhile Food Analysis takes 2 days only they are Monday and Friday. All of them was kind of take-so-long-time in preparation and work so for me come back home at 10 p.m. was a very normal thing. Also don't forget that in the weekend i had to go lab for the preparation of both. Because of that thing too, i postponed my 1-credit Seminar for granted just because i truly didn't have a time to think about it wkwk.

Our actual feeling: tired

ASTI's closing party at Erista Garden

This pict was taken by Pak Wahdan ahaha

It was a hard time tho, really. Faking smiles later is one of my new skills. I sobbed, screamed, in a silence, a lot. I cried on my way back home that night when i found out the lab data result wasn't good enough. I cried on the Sunday morning alone at lab when i found my medium was contaminated. I skipped many sessions of my class only for the preparation. So many tears but i thought worth the experiences.
